New CD from Bloque 53 "La Ruta de la Salsa" produced by Joaquin Arteaga January 2010 is the release of CD "La Ruta de la Salsa" from Bloque 53. "Is the first salsa CD recorded in the Spain with vibraphone..." quotes Joaquin Arteaga, producer and percussionist on the album. With a hot sound and minty taste of the vibes, they called "THE NEW BARCELONA SALSA SOUND" La Ruta de la Salsa was recorded in October of 2009 in Barcelona, influenced by Joe Cuba, grupo Mango and Ruben Blades and seis de Solar, Bloque 53 members search for a new sound without forgeting the salsa brava swing. The CD is full of tasty rhytmic formulas, very danceable with lyrics that remember guarachas. Bloque 53 is already generating buzz within the salsa comunity. February 2010 will be the "Festival de Percusión de Barcelona" Spain, were acid jazz band Asstrio plus Toni Pages and Joaquin Arteaga will give us an outstanding night of explosive rhythms The concerts will be held during february around Catalunya starting 6 of February at L´auditori de Barcelona. Last 21 of November 2009, Joaquin Arteaga shared great moments of music with Latin Leyend "Larry Harlow" from "Las Estrellas de Fania". Renowned Latin-style pianist Larry Harlow will present the world-premiere full performance of La Raza Latina, a Salsa Suite, Saturday, Nov. 21, at 8 p.m., in the Luckman Theatre at California State University, Los Angeles. Harlow will conduct the CSULA Afro Latin Ensemble and welcome guest performers for a night of salsa rhythms, contemporary Latin music, and Afro Latin Jazz. Featured vocalist Adonis Puentes will be among special guests, including vocalist Iris Sandra Cepeda, percussionist Joaquin Arteaga, percussionist Memo Acevedo, the CSULA Afro Latin Ensemble directed by Paul De Castro, and several CSULA faculty artists. This past august 21 2009 Joaquin Arteaga taught a workshop on "Latin Percussion Ensemble" included in the !Festival Salsa al Parque" programme. Teaching bongo and special timbale riffs. Joaco showed diferent ways of talking with the bongo and figures around it. Using Latin Percussion instruments the event ended on a great drumming descarga. Also during this week Joaquin Arteaga played with La Sucursal at diferent locations including the "Festival Salsa al Parque"
